Middleware Services

Middleware Management supports a set of core software components which integrate applications, databases, networks, and operating systems. Middleware software provides the ‘glue’ and application framework that enable inter-application and inter-system communication and integration for Client application systems.

Key activities include:

  • Installing middleware software.
  • Configuring middleware.
  • Middleware troubleshooting/problem determination.
  • Setting up log file rotation.
  • Performing middleware configuration changes.
  • Change / Release / Deployment Management by creating, reviewing, approving, and implementing Change records, as appropriate.
  • Problem Management and Root Cause Analysis to troubleshoot and resolve problems, as necessary.
  • Providing emergency support coverage (for example, carrying a rotating team hot pager).
  • Promoting application code and changes.
  • Performing application configuration changes.
  • Performing application content updates.
  • Performing health checks.
  • Providing additional scope as defined by the contract (for example, disaster recovery).
  • Assigning and managing user and group access to internal Web Hosting servers.
  • Applying security patches.
  • Performing a quality check of the build for new systems.
  • Maintaining a complete inventory of software, including versions and patch levels.
  • Documenting system information, including lists of Intranet applications, middleware, and escalation contacts.
